Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov star as Cinderella and The Prince in Frederick Ashton’s timeless reworking of Charles Perrault’s famous rags-to-riches story, showcasing the choreographer’s deft musicality and the beauty of Prokofiev’s transcendent score. A creative team steeped in the magic of theatre, film, dance and opera brings new atmosphere to Cinderella’s ethereal world of fairy godmothers and pumpkin carriages, handsome princes and finding true love.
“... the perfection of Nuñez and Muntagirov’s pas de deux, their regal ease, the incredible lightness of Nuñez’s feet – you could believe she was under a spell. The dancing is transporting, this ballet embodying the fairytale escapism we all sometimes need, telling us everything will turn out fine in the end” (The Guardian)

Having turned out to see the live relay in the cinema in Canterbury before Christmas, due to a technical failure we never saw the last Act. Hence I bought the Blu-ray to find out who won.! RBO 1 Cinema 0 in fact the cinema were lucky to score NIL.
Having seen this production of Cinderella, live, on the big screen at the cinema I was delighted to discover that a Blu-ray was available. The performances of Marianela Nunez and Vadim Muntagiro, the rest of the cast and Orchestra are without a doubt a triumph.
Beautifully created ballet. Music was melodious but no memorable tunes as in the Nutcracker. Still a wonderful ballet
A glorious reminder of a splendid evening in the second row of the Stalls when it was filmed. Marianela and Vadim as watchable as always and particular praise for Gary Avis and Luca Acri as the Sisters who achieved every ounce of comedy without harming the indelible memory of Ashton and Helpmann in those roles.
Congratulations to our much loved Royal Ballet.
A fine performance by Nunez and Muntagrirov, ably supported by Avis and Acre as the step sisters.
