Marcelo Álvarez, the famous Argentinean tenor, takes on the role of Riccardo and leads an excellent cast, including the wonderful Lithuanian soprano Violeta Urmana as his lover Amelia and the brilliant Elena Zaremba as the witch Ulrica. The Chorus and Orchestra of the Teatro Real are conducted by Jésus López Cobos, weaving the grand opera and opera comique together in a distinguished Italian style.
