Verdi: The Shakespeare Operas DVD Set

Verdi's The Shakespeare Operas DVD Set includes 3 brilliant productions by the Royal Opera House, Liceu and Glyndebourne. This landmark trio features dynamic casts of singers, conductors and directors that are united in Macbeth, a piece that inspired the young composer in his hard-working 'galley years' and took him to heights of international acclaim, and Otello and Falstaff, Verdi's final two operatic achievements.

Simon Keenlyside (Thane) and Liudmyla Monastyrska (Lady) stun in Phyllida Lloyd's rich production of the Scottish Play for The Royal Opera, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano. José Cura reimagines the Moor in an earnest and truly great staging by Willy Decker at Barcelona's Liceu and Richard Jones brings out bright humour with a sprinkle of bitterness in Falstaff for Glyndebourne Festival. With Christopher Purves in the title role and conducted by the inspiring Vladimir Jurowski, lightness and wisdom compose the grand finale of this set.
