The story of the legendary Swiss patriot Guillaume Tell, determined to free Switzerland from rule, is told through magnificent arias, ensembles and choruses, atmospheric musical evocations of the Swiss landscape, particularly in the famous overture the dramatic episodes of great emotional power.
