A life-celebrating story full of wisdom, art and song, Wagner's Die Meistersinger is proved as such again in David McVicar's Glyndebourne production, available in Blu-ray. Gerald Finley takes centre stage as Sachs and is claimed to be 'eminently believable' and 'gleamingly sung' (The Independent on Sunday). Complimented by the intricately vigorous conducting by Vladimir Jurowski who like McVicar uses the intimacy of Glyndebourne to highlight the insights of Wagner's musical drama.
