Our Fair To Trade Nutcracker Baubles are handmade in Kashmir. They are crafted in papier-mâché a tradition that dates back to the 15th century in the region. The baubles are hand made by local artisans (supported by the World Fair Trade Organisation) allowing them to sustain a living and provide education for their families.
Each decoration is crafted from paper recycled from Kashmiri schools and companies, formed in a mould and sanded for structure. They are coated in a base red colour and hand-painted with a delicate gold design which is lacquered to seal.
