The 2021 production for The Royal Opera is director's Oliver Mears' debut for the company and The Times describe it as 'thrilling", playing with modern ideas of a corrupted and socially decaying world and giving a fresh perspective to Verdi's masterpiece. Conducted by Antonio Pappano, the production features a cast of highest excellence: Carlos Álvarez in the title role, Lisette Oropesa as a 'matchless Gilda' as recognized by The Guardian and tenor Liparit Avetisyan as the Duke of Mantua.
