"Peter Wright’s production of The Nutcracker has proved to be one of the most durable ballets in the Covent Garden repertoire... it has stood the test of time because, when it comes to Nutcrackers, there is simply nothing to beat it." The Times

"The Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker is both opulent and cosy. The heroine’s magical journey takes her from a family party to the glitter of the Land of Sweets, where Marianela Nuñez is a Sugar Plum Fairy of radiant warmth and grandeur." The Independent

"As the magician Drosselmeyer, a role he has played for many seasons now, Gary Avis has achieved national treasure status, and Anna Rose O'Sullivan is vivid and bright-eyed as Clara, the teenager whose transformative dream-journey the ballet describes. Her Nutcracker, as charming as the day is long, is the spring-heeled Marcellino Sambé... the grand pas de deux is rendered with flawless grandeur by Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov." The Observer

Camera angle problem

I ordered this DVD after watching at "The Nutcracker in rehearsal 2016" with Marcelino as Peter on Youtube. As to the scene of his self indroduction, Ra Ra Ra - So Do - Si~Ra So, I thought the camera angle is much better in the Rehearsal video on Youtube than in the DVD I bought, I don't know why.
Especially I wanted to see the very last part of this solo, from the center as you can see on Youtube, which is much more persuasive and beautiful.

I live in Portugal so am unable to see ROH live but I did see this screening of the Nutcracker in the cinema and, although all have been excellent, this is the best one I have seen so far. For me it is Christmas in a DVD.
