Sir Antonio Pappano: My Life in Music Book

Explore classical music, its restorative qualities and cultural influences in Sir Antonio Pappano: My Life in Music Book by the celebrated Music Director of the Royal Opera House.

Sir Antonio Pappano is one of the best known and most celebrated conductors alive today. His deeply held belief in the power of music to inspire and enlighten is the motivation behind this long anticipated memoir.

In 1969, decades before he was chosen to conduct the music at the Coronation of King Charles, Sir Antonio Pappano was a ten-year-old boy accompanying his father’s singing lessons. My Life in Music tells the moving tale of a legendary conductor who, nurtured in childhood by his parents and their dedicated work ethic, goes on to conduct at many of the most influential opera houses of Europe and North America. Pappano skillfully evokes an extensive selection from his wide-ranging repertoire – operas and orchestral works spanning from Mozart to Birtwistle and Mark Anthony Turnage, as well as art song and chamber music works in which he has performed as a pianist – and makes a compelling case for the potential classical music has to captivate new and wider audiences.

Valuable addition to musical library

In depth study of the rise to musical excellence. His broad experience and his ability to enthuse and train others has made and is continuing to make a tremendous contribution to music and the love and respect for him, his personality, experience and deep knowledge is well deserved. This book is a record of a life being lived so well and takes pride of place on the shelf.

A great read

I bought this as a gift but started reading it myself! A really interesting read and I was just staggered at the sheer range of his work. Super photos ( love the one on the back cover!). My only disappointment was that there was so little about his work with Jonas Kaufmann..

Birthday Present

The book has not been unwrapped yet as it is a surprise gift for my husband’s 88th birthday in August. He will be thrilled I’m sure as we are both such admirers of Pappano’s work and enthusiastic, invaluable insights into opera.
