This Royal Ballet and Opera decoration showcases the stunning ceiling in our main Auditorium and is crafted using the traditional Indian embroidery technique known as zardozi. Coming from the Persian words 'zari', meaning gold, and 'dozi', meaning sewing, this is a highly skilled technique that traditionally used gold wires and jewels to embellish courtly robes. Zardozi work is a rare and respected craft, the skills of which are handed down from generation to generation.
